The Black Trident Viking Holster is an IWB (Inside the Waistband) holster optimized for minimal volume and comfort, allowing you to conceal your firearm under your clothing. The Viking holster stands out not only for its design but also for its versatility in terms of mounting options. Various mounting points on the holster allow you to adjust both its height and angle. The mounting height allows you to carry the weapon lower or higher depending on your clothing or personal preference. The angle adjustment lets you align the grip with your body, reducing the visible mark on your clothing. The standard "Concealment Wing" presses against the waistband/belt from the inside when the holster is mounted at a 90° angle, pulling the grip closer to your body. The result: less visible pressure on your clothing. As you can see, discretion and comfort are paramount.

FAQs about the Viking IWB Holster

Which mounting method does Black Trident recommend for the Viking holster?

There's no single "best" mounting option. It always depends on your intended use. DCC Monoblock is the number one mount for belt carry. We're also big fans of UltiTuck/UltiClip, as this type of mount can be concealed under the belt or even function without one. However, that doesn't mean the other mounts are "bad." Your clothing and mission are the deciding factors.

Is the Black Trident Viking holster compatible with red dot optics?

Yes, the Black Trident Viking IWB holster is compatible with all red dot optics currently on the market. This includes optics like the Trijicon SRO (which protrudes further forward than the standard optic cut).

Is the Black Trident Viking pistol holster compatible with compensators or threaded barrels?

Yes. The Viking pistol holster features an open-muzzle design, allowing for accessories longer than the firearm itself. The holster is manufactured to your chosen length. For example, if you have a Glock 19 with a threaded barrel, you can order a Glock 17 holster. The overall longer holster provides additional protection for the threaded barrel.

I have a subcompact weapon. Can it tip out of my pants?

Of course, with IWB (Inside the Waistband) holsters, less is more. Subcompact pistols have an even shorter slide than compact pistols (size overview: Full Size – Compact – Subcompact). Examples of subcompact pistols are the Glock 26, Glock 43, SIG P320 X Compact, and others. This minimizes the possibility of the holster tipping out during movements such as squatting (explanation: squatting, abdomen presses against the grip => subcompact pistol => possibility of the pistol tipping out with the holster). Our recommendation: Choose one slide length longer (e.g., Glock 26 = Glock 19).

Which light module is recommended for IWB Concealed Carry?

When it comes to inside-the-waistband carry, less is more. Remember: the pistol is carried in the holster between your pants and your body. Therefore, opt for small light modules that have a low size ratio in relation to the trigger guard width and light beam width. The Streamlight TLR7 (available HERE) / TLR8 or Streamlight TLR7 sub (available HERE) are good choices for concealed carry.

Can the Viking pistol holster be operated while wearing gloves?

Yes! We designed it so that you can immediately establish a full grip pattern, even while wearing gloves. There's approximately 30mm of space between the holster edge and the handle.

Is the weapon securely seated in the Viking holster? Could it fall out?

The Viking holster is a so-called "Level 1" holster. This means that the weapon is held in the holster solely by the draw resistance generated by surface pressure against the contours and surfaces of the weapon. You can do anything with the Viking holster. This holster is built for comfort and safety.

I'd like to order a Viking holster with a light. Will the holster also fit without the light?

No. A Kydex holster is like a glove for your weapon. It's precisely tailored to the shape of your pistol. Each holster is made exactly to your specifications.

Weapon + large laser/light module. Is it normal that I "could" reach the trigger?

Yes. Light modules, especially those with a larger outer shape, must have a correspondingly suitable light channel. Otherwise, you won't be able to holster or draw your weapon. This effect can occur particularly with "wide" light modules. The crucial factor is the distance between the trigger guard and the width of the light module. Makes sense, right?

Will holstering my weapon cause abrasion marks/damage to the coating?

Weapons are tools. Wear marks can occur at certain points on the weapon or attachments (trigger guard, bolt, laser light modules, etc.) at so-called "retention points." These are contours where surface pressure builds up. Your weapon will develop wear marks from repeated holstering. Use your equipment. No safe queens here.

Is the Black Trident Viking holster compatible with silencers?

No. The Viking holster cannot accommodate muzzle attachments that are larger than the standard outer contour of the weapon's slide itself.
